A Summer You Can't Miss

As the summer season approaches, I am thrilled to bring you an exciting newsletter packed with incredible events and activities for all age groups. Toledo is buzzing with opportunities for kids, teens, and adults to make the most of the summer months. There is truly something for everyone.

Kicking off the Summertime in the 419

Join us this Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Joe E. Brown Park for an epic showcase featuring our program partners, health resources, giveaways, and tons of fun. We have 100+ summer programs for kids and teens that will let them move, explore, perform, create, learn, grow, and thrive all summer long.

But that's not all! We've got a thrilling lineup of drop-in events and activities to keep your entire family entertained all summer long. Check out these exciting highlights:

  • Let’s Get Moving: stay active and enjoy your city parks with this 20-week walking program that meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
  • City Pools: swim and splash every day from 12-6 p.m. beginning May 27. Swim lessons will also be available during the month of July, registration opens May 30 at 12 p.m. and space is limited.
  • Litter League: get your team together and head out to clean up trash in your neighborhood. Registration is open now and the competition starts May 27.
  • Inline and Roller Skating: grab a friend and head to the Ottawa Park Ice Rink for inline and roller skating beginning May 22. Open to the public Mondays and Wednesdays, 4-8 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12-4 p.m.
  • Community Movie Nights: bring a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars at one of our city parks. Movies start June 8 and run weekly at 7 p.m.

Get ready for July 1—a day that promises excitement and unforgettable moments. Here's what's in store:

  1. Start things off at the Glass Bowl for the XLII Italian Bowl, an event that’s never been held on American soil.
  2. Over at the Huntington Center (or live on ESPN) watch Heavyweight Jared Anderson in his first professional fight in his hometown.
  3. Finally, end your night downtown by the river watching the annual Fireworks in the 419 show, sponsored by Owens Corning and Metroparks Toledo.

There's Still More

Connecting Kids to Meals will start its summer meal program on May 30th, so keep an eye out for the full schedule coming soon. TARTA is now accepting applications for their Summer Youth Blast Pass so kids ages 6-19 can ride all TARTA services free for the summer. Don't forget to check out all the programs happening at the Toledo Library as well.
