The Toledo Fire & Rescue Department and The Toledo Department of Public Utilities responded on March 26 to a possible hazardous situation at Global Chemical Resources, 719 Brown Ave. affecting an area bounded approximately by Brown, Nebraska, North Detroit, and Avondale.

During the initial investigation it was deemed that no immediate hazard was present. Initial water and air samplings were negative for any harmful chemicals. The Toledo wastewater treatment plant did not detect any abnormal readings. Sewer lines in the area were flushed as a precaution.

On March 31, the chemical air and sewer analysis was completed. The results confirmed that there are no threats to the public. Monitoring will continue on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future.

The City of Toledo is actively working with Global Chemical Resources to hold the company accountable and prevent future incidents. Residents who have any concerns to report, should contact Engage Toledo at 419-936-2020, or by email at engagetoledo@toledo.oh.gov.
