Mayor Kapszukiewicz Kicks off the 2023 Clean Toledo Drop-Off Refuse and Recycling Event

Saturday, April 15, 2023

This morning outside of Imagination Station, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz kicked off the first Clean Toledo drop-off refuse and recycling event for 2023. Thanks to the joint efforts of Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful and Imagination Station, this event marks the first ever in the downtown area.

“These events provide a convenient and free way for residents to prevent items from ending up in the landfill,” Mayor Kapszukiewicz said. “Reduce, reuse, recycle in that order, because the more we recycle, the better we can preserve our planet for future generations.”

The event, held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. assisted 381 vehicles with recycling tires, large appliances, paint, yard waste, and more. New this year, large appliances that contain freon, scrap metal, green waste, and Styrofoam will be accepted every event.

In partnership with Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful (KT/LCB), boat shrink wrap will be collected at the Toledo Zoo, Detwiler Park, and Point Place Plaza events.

“It is important that we educate one another on the proper disposal of our refuse and recyclables. We have a Great Lake that we need to protect,” Adam Cassi, Executive Director, Keep Toledo Lucas County Beautiful said.

“To us, protecting our planet means healthy people, communities, and environments both now and in the future,” CEO Lori Hauser said of Imagination Station. “If we work together, we can reduce the strain on Earth’s limited resources.”
