The Toledo Neighborhood Beautification Contest is a challenge for homeowners, business owners, and community garden groups to showcase their community pride by enhancing the curb appeal of their properties.

This contest encourages participants to improve the facades of their homes, businesses, and gardens, reflecting their dedication to beautifying their neighborhoods. Those whose properties best demonstrate this community pride will receive recognition from the Mayor and Toledo City Council.

Contest Timeline

Eligibility

Any home, business, or community garden can participate. Property enhancements are defined as "community beautification," which includes exterior improvements to the front yard, fencing, and home or building. The condition of streets and sidewalks will not affect judging, and properties cannot have any outstanding code violations.

Winners

We will select 4 homes, 2 businesses, and 1 community garden as contest winners. Winners will be notified via email.

Evaluation Criteria

The winning properties will be chosen by a committee, who will evaluate:

• No outstanding code violations
• Improvements must focus on front yard, fencing, and/or facade
• Streets/sidewalks are not considered
• The landscape enhance the neighborhood
• The landscape and plants are healthy and tidy
• Yard free of litter
• Lawn well-trimmed
• Porch clean
• Footpath clear and inviting
• Front door clean and painted
• Fencing and exterior paint condition
