The City of Toledo plans to add a water tower at Schneider Soccer Complex in 2026.
The inclusion of a water tower at this location has been a coordinated effort with the City's Parks and Public Utilities departments. When we were working on Schneider Soccer Complex, we anticipated the need for a water tower at this location, and we are ready to move into that phase of the project. Because we anticipated it, the water tower will have minimal impact on the soccer fields at Schneider Soccer Complex.
We care deeply about maintaining reliable utility infrastructure to deliver safe and clean water to all residents, and developing sustainable public infrastructure that services the needs of the community.
The need to address water pressure in this part of the city, along with a more broad goal to divide the water distribution system into two pressure zones to maintain appropriate pressure throughout the city is why we need to place a water tower here.
Although the site has been selected and cannot be changed, we hope that with your input, the new tower will be an opportunity to create a cohesive landmark in the neighborhood.
The park will be open during the construction phase. There will be minimal impact to parking or access to the fields. We will make do our best to minimize the impact to parking or access to the fields.
Once the tower is complete, the construction area can hold the first artificial turf field at Schneider Park. An added benfit of the water tower at this location is that we will be able to store city owned soccer equipment in the base of the tower. This will eliminate the need for other, often unsightly, storage containers.
We will work to clarify as much as we can as we move through this project in the coming months and years.
